NetworkSolutions Inc BOYCOTT!!

January - 12 - 2008

Uh oh!! Do a whois on this site's domain and you'll find that it's happily been registered via Network Solutions for 3 years. This post, (among other things) is one of the main reasons why THEY'LL BE LOSING MY BUSINESS on the coming domain renewal, and why they should be losing yours. Basically, when you search for a domain name enough times, or when enough people search for a domain name via network solutions, it is now confirmed that NetworkSolutions will auto-register your idea based on your search. This is evil for many reasons; really it's not that they want to sell the name back to you later, it's far worse than that. Basically, they're using their domain search such that they pre-reserve all popular names (that they can detect via the search), and FORCE people into buying these names exclusively from NSI. Uh-oh... I smell a BOYCOTT!!! Re-post the word on your blog! make some fucking noise!!

Hopefully there's some people at NSI right now, realizing that it's going to be impossible to put out this iFire, regardless of money spent on PR.. Looks like rain today, bitches!!

Someone should create a program that performs searches at NS' site and then have a large pool of people run the program. It would have to be made in such a way that NS couldn't tell the difference between a real person and a bot; so they couldn't risk blocking the traffic without blocking real people.

With a large enough pool this would cause NS' system to register hundreds or maybe thousands of domains every second. I doubt NS' front-running service could withstand a massive DDOS like this. Also this will likely tax the domain registration infrastructure enough that someone higher up (ICANN?) will need to step in and stop NS' practice.

ICANN is the biggest mob in the Technology area! Many of these schemes are happening just because ICANN allows it (on purpose) and probably people on its board are getting money directly from some of those schemers. There are so many accredited ICANN registrars that don't provide any customer service - never answer emails, never return calls, etc. - I don't know how they got their accreditation, but, for example, they don't allow you to renew your names. The only time they answer your emails after your domains expire and you agree to pay $200 to renew it. If you try to file a complaint against those registrars, ICANN responds - we don't accept complaints regarding customer service issues.

The domain names is one of the dirties business on the planet. Lots of the registrars register as offshore companies so you can't sue them in the States.

I think we need to fight the ICANN mob that allows all this, not specific registrars that take advantage of the ICANN's backdoors!

I think I'm going to go on Network Solutions and make up a few website names that I don't want and see if I can fish NS into acquiring it.

I just searched for these site names 3x's:

ilovewatchinggoldengirls.com

hempfordonkeys.com

purplecoweaters.com

nakeddwarfaliens.com

Believe it or not, they were all available. . Let's see if NS wants them.
